Day 9 ......Azrou to Source bleue de Meski

It was very cold this morning but we had slept warmly.  It's a very unusual site this with geese, ducks, rabbits hens & chicks wandering about.

At the 8.30am meeting we learned that it was going to be a long drive today down the N 13 to the next camp.
Driving through the cedar forest on the snow line we reached an altitude of 1965 metres then slowly descended passing through small villages on the way.
On the wide open plain alongside the Atlas mountains the scenery was simply stunning.

Stopped at Zaida at a large garage complex and had coffee and bread & cheese, the delicious, french style bread having been given to us that morning for breakfast at Euro Camping.
The road took us through the Gorges du Ziz. Fantastic Jurassic scenery with lots of fossils.

Not long after passing lake Rachidia we turned left onto the N 10 at Ar Rachidia and soon after reached the Source bleue de Meski, a very pretty oasis the source of which is 5 springs.
Time around 2.30pm.   We are camped under palm trees just by the stream.

Walked around and visited the shops one of which is owned by Hamid who is part of the 'Desert Detours' team. We purchased some Berber jackets from him.  The other shop owners are a little upset as Hamid is getting all the business.  Himself was dragged off into a shop because the owner said that himself had promised 'later'.  He returned with a dusty, carved wooden African walking stick and a Moroccan skull cap!
The campers are swapping old clothes, mobile phones, medicines etc. for rugs, plates and souvenir items with the shop owners.

We are meeting at 6.45.

Having decided against eating at the local 'cafe soleil' tonight we had a simple meal and turned in at 9.30pm.
