Up at 7 am and porridge for breakfast.
Driving back through the Todra Gorge in the early morning light we retraced our wheels until reaching the T junction where we turned right to Tinerhir.
Tinerhir oasis
Stopping in Tinerhir by the side of the road we accessed the internet, visited the Bank then shopped for oranges, bread, eggs and water. Hardly anyone took notice of us, people were too busy going about their daily business.
...............................................
Some two hours later we reached the Vallée du Dades, Valley of 1,000 Kasbahs, Valley of Roses.
Driving through, we were surprised to see all the Almond Trees in full blossom which had gone over in the South of Spain by the time we left home. We had no way of knowing our altitude.
Driving through abandoned Berber villages with the occasional and very unexpected view of a lush oasis of palm trees and rose bushes, the area famed for the rose festival that occurs in May which attracts people from all over Morocco, we notice signs for the sale of Rose products but don't stop until we reach a small shop that has been recommended by Ray. On sale are scarves and genuine Rose products, at tourist prices, but we do buy some soaps and some of the famous rose water.
The shop is owned by a widow who's son painted the iconic 'Desert Detours' sign.
Just before Ouazazate we made a stop for a drink and sandwich.
Reaching the camp site, Camping Municípal, we found it very full.
4.30 pm A Frenchman parked just along from us is serenading us with his accordian!
Hamid & Youssef are cooking soup!
5.30 pm Meeting and soup. Delicious, vegetable with chilli and fesh bread.
There are a couple of hippies in a small van next to us. A VW transporter but with no blinds and nothing in the way of mod cons. We retired just before 7 pm as it was getting dark.
7.40 pm. The Call to Prayer.
